It is amazing how creative we are as individuals, but when we think of creative individuals, often, we think of an artist, musician, or fashion designer. However, creating is not limited to the arts and fashion but is showcased in almost everything our hands' touch! Our creative nature is expressed in writing, cooking, photography, videography, dancing, digital content, and interior design. We also create witty inventions, solutions to problems, policies, laws, programs, schools, churches, houses, and other buildings just to name a few. Our ability to create as human beings is endless and limitless.
So why are we such creative individuals anyway? Because our Father is the great Creator. He created this world, and He created mankind. The first chapter of Genesis provides an elaborate account of God’s creative nature and mind over six days and the seventh day as the day God rested-
Day 1- God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.”(Genesis 1:3).
Day 2- God said, “Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth.” God created the sky. (v.6-8).
Day 3- God said, “Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may appear.” From the land, trees and plants would sprout seed-bearing fruit. (v. 9-12).
Day 4 – God said, “Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years.” (v.14).
Day 5 - God said, “Let the waters swarm with fish and other life. Let the skies be filled with birds of every kind.”(v. 20).
Day 6 – God said, “Let the earth produce every sort of animal, each producing offspring of the same kind—livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and wild animals.” (v.24) Lastly, God created man, “then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us.”(v.26).
We see God’s creative nature in His daily activities of creating the heavens and the earth. God is truly an artist! God’s creation is beautiful! It stands out! It is opulent and rich in color. This ability to create also resides in you.
Not only did God create human beings, but He created them in His own image. As God’s creation, we bear His image and likeness. His image is reflected in our creative nature because He is the Creator. So it is in our identity to be people who are creators and love to create.
So why not create! It is in your spiritual DNA waiting to be expressed. If you have created something, continue to create, and create some more. Do not stop. If your creative mind is stuck or blocked, pray and ask God to help you grow in creative abilities. When you use your mind and hands to create, God gets the glory. Share with others all that God has deposited inside of you. Embrace your creative side! This will look different for every person because God has uniquely formed us. When you see another person creating remember they are reflecting God’s nature and image. Create on purpose and create with purpose and encourage others to create with you.
What are you creating or have created?
